Senior Manager Engineering

Job Summary: Directs and develops global technical chemical and metallurgical based projects with the various customer engineering groups. Leads joint high-level projects that will globally improve processes, yields, and capabilities.

                                   

 

Responsibilities:

Recruits, interviews and hires Process Engineering (PE) team members.· Identifies individual and team strengths and development needs on a regular basis.· Coaches and mentors PE staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.· Creates and manages succession plans for key PE functions.· Establishes clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. performance metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, quality of project deliverables, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).· Solicits ongoing feedback from Customers, Business Unit Managers (BUMs), ME managers, Ivy Design groups, and peers on the PE team’s contribution to their respective organizations.·Knows and understands the strategic directions of the business development groups, and Ivy's customers.· Defines, develops and implements PE strategies which contribute to strategically supporting Ivy.· Establishes collaboration on technology development with Ivy Business Units, Work cells, regional members, customers, and suppliers.·  Identifies creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added positions/processes, or complete re-engineering of positions. processes and systems).· Utilizes tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends (i.e. forecasts), striving for continuous improvement.· Provides feedback to peers and Sr BUD on cost and cost trends.· Ensures all projects deliver as much value as possible to Ivy and our customers, while meeting project plan milestones.· Develops and submits timely forecasts for all PE department locations.· Compares forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.· Submits variance reports on quarterly basis.· Manages the procurement of department equipment and supplies.· Acts as the primary contact with all customer engineering groups involving chemical and metallurgical issues and opportunities.· Supports and develops with customer various technical projects and initiatives that will increase productivity and quality that will enhance our opportunity to win additional business.· Periodically visits customer sites and the customer to investigate issues and opportunities. From these visits develop projects, provide support, or meet with various vendors to substantiate issues or provide solutions.· Works with the site failure analysis labs involving chemical and metallurgical issues, then follow-up with vendors.· Leads customer lead-free conversion project.· Provides feedback, deliverable dates, and potential cost implications to the specified customer groups.· Follows-up on all actionable items both at customer and within Ivy.· Meets as required with the various technical management levels within customer to ensure continuity of efforts.· Presents to customer’s senior engineering group’s Ivy’s capabilities.· Searches for and involves the senior Ivy team in potential chemical and metallurgical applications to enhance current processes and win business.· Proactively presents to customer options and foresight to their current applications.· Assures best-in-class customer satisfaction and service.· Ensures all technology schedules are met.· Acts as the primary technical interface at all business related meetings.· Provides lean manufacturing principles where required.· Periodically visits all global sites and the customer.· Primary interface for all special projects and qualifications as directed by the senior Ivy team.· Attends various technical expos.· Adheres to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position.·Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills Requirements:

· 8-10 years of work-related experience working in an EMS environment. Certified 6 Sigma Black Belt preferred. Domestic and international travel required 50% of the time. Must be able to speak fluently in English.  Multilingual preferred.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree, First Degree, Trade/Vocational School certificate or Equivalent required. Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management or related field preferred. Master's Degree preferred.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individual will be required to stand and walk or otherwise traverse in order to be accessible to the production floor for extended periods of time.  The person in this position will be required to regularly exert at least 10 lbs. of force to push, pull or otherwise move objects and may be required to carry or lift objects up to 50 lbs.  The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and/or documents;  viewing a computer terminal; and/or visual inspection of products or machinery. The person in this position may need to occasionally sit, type, climb stairs, bend, reach, kneel, or twist for minimal periods of time.  Employees should not attempt to lift, pull or push a load in excess of 50 lbs. without assistance.  Care should always be taken when lifting, pushing or pulling in an awkward position.
